Back from Vaca

Back from Vaca and I'm done with Bing Crosby christmas songs and am back to Ipod, right now listening to Cinderella Gypsy Road. I have an 80's thing going on right now. Honeymoon Suite, Motley Crue and Cinderella. Mary, come back!

I had a terrific time with Mom. We spent christmas eve and day at the Waybury Inn in Middlebury and met friends of ours there. One couple from South Dakota and one couple from Oklahoma. I felt like a tourist in Vermont with them. They love our convience stores that look like general stores, oh, I do too, now that I realize it! They love the different variety of restaurants we have. What? Thats news to me, but, oh yeah, we do have some pretty awesome choices. They love our candy...yep, couldn't agree more. They love our maple syrup, I have to admit, I take that for granted! Fresh maple syrup whenever you want it. They love the view of the mountains at every turn, That for me never grows old, I love that too!

It's really fun to see Vermont through new eyes! I appreciate home more and more each year!

Happy New year,

Beautiful Vermont Morning

It's Saturday Morning, my vacation has just begun and I am waking up to one of the many reasons I love Vermont, its beauty!

Dawn is about to peak, the trees are painted with thick fluffy snow, the sky in the back drop is grey and there's a sweet crisp fresh air smell creeping through my window.

It doesn't matter how long I've lived in Vermont, I will always appreciate the beauty of a vermont morning after a fresh snowfall!

I'm enjoying a freshly brewed cup of Green Mountain Spicy Eggnog coffee pondering on which winter sport I want to go out play today. At the same time feeling blessed that I have that choice. Snowshoe, cross country ski, snowboard, downhill ski? I'm feeling mellow, I may simply crosscountry ski today.

I hope if you're in vermont that you will have the chance to feel like a kid and go out and play in the snow today, even if its just to make a snowangel.

Picture of me with my long long time friend

This is Mary Ann and me at my reunion. I've been friends with her since kindergarden. We've been through her Irish Step Dancing on stage in grade school to the two of us Irish Step dancing on the tables at Civic Pub in Hartford CT on after the St. Patricks day Parade in Hartford..... (does that place even exist anymore?)

As I get more pictures from my reunion, I'll share them with you.

Hot Rueben Sandwich fixes everything

After a night at the Pourhouse and a live Broadcast this morning from Cumberland Farms with the Morning Mess, I realized I've been living on Coffee and needed some food. Noon rolled around today and I was hungry. Cranky hungry. Hot Rueben Sandwich from Libbys diner with french fries did the trick!

I got a new pair of skis. They're cross country skis and now I am wishing the snow to hit the ground. I really wanted to learn to snowboard this winter, and I still may, but most of my friends cross country ski. And it's a great workout! Thats me, all about the workout! Good thing I have been working out with James aka "Lars" (nickname) from Body Resolution in South Burlington, because I'll need strong quads for skiing this year. And a strong core to pick my ass up off the ground after I've fallen from trying to ski.

Tomorrow I have a friend coming over to do a "Clean House' with me. Ever seen that show where these people come over and make you pick up your crap and sell it. They make you get rid of old furniture and trinkets that are sentimental and make people cry. Thats going to be me tomorrow with my friend Kim from Georgia. She's really good at organizing. I need help getting organized. Once I'm organized, I keep it that way. But I still have three outfits from 1985, I refuse to give away. They've become nastaligic in a sense. Well two outfits and a leather jacket, tapered at the waist with the wing sleeves....aurgh!

Think high scoring game Sunday with Patriots and Seattle!

Enjoy your weekend.

25th HS reunion

$77, full buffet, open bar and all I had was a glass of water! All I did was talk at my highschool reunion.

I really enjoyed meeting up with some old friends in hopes of staying in touch with them now that there's so many different venues to do so. Facebook, myspace, classmates and simply email! As a matter of fact, the reunion was register on Classmates and so lots of people signed up and them found each other on Facebook and started updating everyone on what's happening in their lives ie: family, jobs, where they live including pictures so when I got to the reunion it's like, there was nothing left to talk about. BUT...I have to say, there's nothing like that personal face to face contact....uhm, talking.

Everyone from the class of '83 from a small town in CT looked absolultly fabulous. Really, no one looked old and tired out. Everyone seems to be taking care of themselves. Guess the ones who aren't keeping in shape didn't come?...?

I was surprized at how many single guys and girls there were. Alot of 2nd marriages too. And I don't feel so bad, alot who have never been married and are just enjoying life like myself.

Some shared memories that I forgot about....guess its called selective memory, like peeing in the mens room at a concert. I thought it was VanHalen...nope, Heart! ( I didn't think that was a big deal, but it burned into someones memory)

Funny part was trying to remember everyones names. There were a few I couldn't remember. We had to wear our highschool pic with name pinned on our shirts and alot of times I would be talking to someone and have no idea who they were. Or, I just couldn't remember their name and I felt so bad, but I didn't want to get caught looking at their highschool picture pinned on them so the second they would look away I would quickly look at their pic to get their name. By the end of the night was I like, screw it ....who are you?

Hope you enjoyed the holidays and had plenty of food, family and friends to spend time with.

Holidays are here

I remember when I was young everyone use to say, the older you get the faster time flys.. Well, I'll say. I was just trying to make plans with friends to go mountain biking and its....Thanksgiving. I will miss spending Thanksgiving with my family, but I will get to see them over the weekend when I head home on Friday.

One of my favorite parts about Thanksgiving is walking in from the cold, into a warm home with the smell of turkey in the oven and the family laughing and talking over each other. When my family gets together NO ONE can get a word in, we all have so much to say, lots of belly laughs and I love it!

I also have my highschool reunion this weekend. I always enjoy going because I don't see many of classmates from CT now that I live in Vermont. I've lost touch with alot of people I use to be close to and I always have hopes of reconnecting. What usually happens is those who I expect to be there aren't and I end up talking to people I didn't know very well. It's funny when people feel the need to talk to you when they don't know you and you act like you know them and you know in their head they're like....um, who is this person. Last reunion we had to wear our year book picture pinned on our shirt. good times. I didn't think I changed much. I forgot how long my hair was, and how shy I was!

Isn't it funny how we see things as we saw them 5 or 10 or 20 years ago, and they look the same. The house we grew up in. The highschool we went to. Our favorite dirt road to walk or drive on. The mountain we love to climb. The stores we love to shop at, but we look different then we did 5, 10 or 20 years ago. Our surroundings look the same, but we've changed with age.

I was frantically looking/shopping for something to wear to this reunion, like I don't have enough in my closet to chose from, and who am I trying to impress? Half the S*&@ I tried on looked like I was trying to hard, the rest looked stupid. Why can't I just wear jeans and a t-shirt. Thats what I live in on a daily basis.

Happy Thanksgiving whether it's with family, friends or with a good book, its day about being grateful and my hope and wish is that for you

I got hit hard with this bug thats going around

For some reason I cut back on taking my vitamin C and I got the bug, flu, virus what ever you call it and it sucks. The doctor gave me an inhaler for the weekend because I was having a hard time catching my breath and now I can't stop coughing. Its embarrassing. I feel much much better, but this cough is just continuous and I don't want to go out in public coughing all over people. I'm going to try every home remedy there is to get rid of this cough! and I've heard them all, including putting Vicks vapor rub on my FEET! I'll try it for sure!

It is embarrassing, I met the most intriguing person on Saturday. She's a journalist for one of the national news networks, an opportunity of a lifetime to ask all those questions you'd want to ask. She had some of the most amazing stories. Knowing and meeting presidents, world leaders, the pope. She had really interesting personal stories about these interviews of hers, and I could barely ask her where she gets her hair done, I coughed the whole time. And, had no voice so she couldn't understand a word I said! She was probably thinking, who is this crazy woman from VT!

Well, I stuck to my gut feeling about the Jets over the weekend, and Brett Favre....yeppers, got it done, I'm off the hook once again and don't have to do anything stupid this week, no, it's Rich's turn again. Tomorrow at noon, Rich will dress in this huge goofy turkey costume and deliver lunch to a lucky listener who sends us an email with the request, morningmess@champrocks. The Turkey sandwiches are from Subway with all the fixins, including chips and soda! I'll probably snag one before we bring them to the winners place of business.

5k and hip hop

I ran the 5k event on Saturday for the Conner Turnbough Foundation. Fantastic fundraiser, they raised over $11,000, congratulations.

I'll tell you what, I was not prepared! I really haven't run since May, well a few 3 mile runs here and there. After running full marathons I have a warped perception of the ease of a 5k event. I didn't eat before the race, just had a cup of coffee. I figured I would just run and then eat. Well, they say "GO" and everyone starts bookin'. Running for their lives and I'm like, where 's everyone going. What happened to this nice easy 5k fun run. Well, I told myself I'm just here to have fun. RIGHT! As soon as people started passing me, I was like, uh I don't think so and the competitive part in me started running faster and of course I exhausted all I had and got burnt before the end of a 3.6mile run! I had to walk it out a couple times. I would have been better off just jogging and finishing with a run. I need to keep my running schedule going! Mary, remember, this is just a fun event to raise money for a fab cause!

I have my hip hop class tonight. We dance to music from Jay Z, Timbeland and Akon?...HUH? Guess you couldn't do a chuncky belly role to Zeppelin's Rock and Roll?

I was really frustrated last week. I couldn't remember the steps and I didn't have room to move. There's alot of people in this class and we keep dancing in each others space! ARUGH!

Let's hope for lots of points in tonights football game. I do NOT want to wear this stupid turkey costume and stand in a street corner somewhere in Chittenden county. I am sick of losing these stupid NFL picks.

Turkeys are full of it

It's almost here. No, not Thanksgiving, Rich's winning streak coming to an end with football picks. Well, hopefully I'm not speaking to soon. My Jets pick yesterday has me one game closer to winning this weeks picks. Just need Washington to pull through for me with a win this weekend.

Here's the deal, the loser will dress is a full Turkey Costume, standing on the corner of Dorset and Williston Road, in South Burlington, with a sign that says Save the Turkeys, eat meatloaf for Thanksgiving. Go Skins!

I hope you have a great weekend, I'll start my weekend with the Connor Turnbough 5K run tomorrow morning, maybe a movie Saturday nite and chill on Sunday. Might be a great day for homemade stew!

Lost another NFL pick with the Morning Mess

I thought morning radio was suppose to be fun. Just show up, chat it up and make OTHER people look stupid. I'm starting to feel like the Detroit Lions, what is it this year so far, 0-9? Thats me with my picks. Whos BRILLIANT idea was it to have wagers on these picks. Isn't it just fun to pick games, but NO...now we have to do something ridiculous when we lose, and I've been the loser for most of this.

Pizza Put today, noon, I'll be wearing Rich's unironed, over sized clothes, including his long sleeve RedSox Shirt and some kahki jeans I will be serving pizza!

See you there...
